For Teachers
IT'S GOOD 2B GOOD offers a parallel program designed exclusively for teachers. This program is approximately 1 to 1-1/2 hours long.
IT'S GOOD 2B GOOD for Teachers includes four components:
- An overview of the program for kids (so teachers can see what their students see)
- A brief summary of traditional educational approaches showing why kids are responding so powerfully to this program
- Suggestions and recommendations for increasing good and kind thoughts and behavior in the classroom
- Questions and Answer session
Teachers also receive a resource list of books and web sites to help them further the goal of increasing good and kind behavior in the classroom.
Sandra's definition of good behavior in the classroom is not limited to "following the rules," although that is important as well. When Sandra talks about good behavior, she is referring to kind and helpful acts. When kids are kind to each other and help each other, the classroom becomes a more enjoyable place to be for students and teachers, and it also makes the classroom a more productive place for learning.
Sandra's program is aimed at 5th and 6th grade students because they are at the brink of the key peer pressure years of middle school. Sandra reaches them before that peer pressure takes over.
What teachers are saying about Sandra's teachers' component:
"What a privilege my students and I had when we participated in Sandra Zerner's IT'S GOOD 2B GOOD program last year. Her program left an incredibly powerful impact not only on our students, but on each of us as educators as well. The images she presented were so powerful, the stories so intense that not a day goes by that I don't think of the profound effect she has had upon each of us. Sandra Zerner is a true “life-toucher” and the effects of her program continue to ripple outward through each of those who have had the opportunity to experience her presentation. I feel truly fortunate to have been amongst those who have been able to learn from her wisdom."
"Way to go! Your presentation was very thoughtful, thorough, and stimulated much thought and ideas for activities. Thank you for candidly sharing your story and mission with us."
"The presentation is very relevant for today's youth. I agreed with everything you said, and I learned some useful hints. Your message is a very strong one."
"Your presentation makes ME want to work on being a better person. I used to reach out to help others more, send cards, make time, but I have made myself too busy; I see this now. This would be a good program. It is needed for students and for teachers."
